How to Avoid the Cowboys

How to Avoid the Cowboys

The Cowboys

Beware of the cold calling bogus cowboys

Figures from the Office of Fair Trading confirm that over 100,000 more complaints were brought to their attention regarding poor building upgrades & maintenance repairs last year.

We have all seen the horror stories about the problems caused by cowboy Paving companies ( seen on BBC Watchdog, Rogue Traders, House of Horrors etc) in relation to false claims and poor quality workmanship, uncompleted installations, extra charges and the loss of deposits etc.

Reassurance and peace of mind is very important when choosing the correct paving company to carry out a project of this nature, as most installations run into thousands of pounds. Therefore, it is important that you ensure that you are comfortable with the approach and competence of the company.

THE CLYDE PAVING COMPANY have complied a helpful Checklist which will help you spot the cowboys from the professionals.

1. References from people who they have previously worked for and Details of where their work can be viewed.

2. A written quotation and any amendments in terms of requirements and price, prior to commencement of work.

3. A start date, estimated completion date and any action you may need to take to ensure the efficient completion of job.

Other DO's and DONT'S to ensure the smooth completion of your job.

DO ask that they have Public & Employer Liability insurance.

DO ask for membership of any trade associations they may have

DO take an ongoing interest in the work and if there are any changes to what has been agreed, deal with them face to face.
